UCL

The creation of Universities as an institution was one of the best things to come out of the Middle Ages. The institution's commitment to extending the boundaries of human knowledge, transmitting this knowledge, and thereby increasing the humanity of the human race has kept it at the forefront of civilization in the 21st century. The Université catholique de Louvain has played a part in this process with pride since 1425.

Research is one of the driving forces behind UCL: 4000 people, 200 laboratories, in close collaboration with companies, the public sector and international bodies.
Via the people it works with, UCL is doing its bit to contribute to the knowledge society and promote our cultural heritage, participate in the social revival and lend a hand to the economy in the Walloon area.
The excellence of research at UCL is reflected in its ability to attract people on an international scale: more than 600 doctoral students from all over the world, more than 200 research contracts signed with foreign universities and companies amongst the thousands of contracts signed each year.

The main fields of knowledge are studied at the university. We can notice theology, philosophy, literature, psychology, mathematics, physics, biology, agronomy, environmental and applied sciences, and medicine which is particularly in the vanguard of progress.

In MAESTRO project UCL is involved in the validation of mainly software and dosimetry sensors, specially in the frame work of imaging devices. The international knowledge of the university on imaging devices is a most for the MAESTRO consortium .
