Instytut Fizyki Jadrowej - Poland The
IFJ, Institute of Nuclear Physics, is a research institute financed by
the Polish Committee of Scientific Research (KBN) and belongs to the Polish
Academy of Science. With almost 470
employees (200 with Ph.D. degree) working in 11 Departments and Laboratories is
one of the biggest research institutes in Poland.
The main research activities of the high energy physics group are
performed in close collaboration with CERN (Geneva) and other European
institutions. In addition to basic
research a broad program of applied research is performed including radiobiology,
medical physics, radiation protection, nuclear magnetic resonance and others. In
2002 a Centre of Excellence ADREM (Advanced Methods of Physics for Human Health
and Reduction of Environmental Hazards) was established at IFJ. In
MAESTRO project IFJ (Health Physics Laboratory) is involved in the development
of 2D TLD (thermo-luminescence) dosimeters, and is responsible for the Training
and Demonstration work package. IFJ's
