Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN) / Laboratori Nazionali del Sud (LNS)

The INFN, 2500 persons, research and innovation centers, INFN is a key actor in the European Research Area devoted to High energy and Nuclear Physics experiments, particle accelerators development, detectors and data acquisition system development. Beside Nuclear Physics INFN is strongly involved in the application of the technology developed in different fields like medicine, superconductivity, heritage, informatics. Its capability to develop and innovate results from a cross fertilized culture between engineers and researchers based on project engineering, open to socioeconomic demand. Its origin comes from high level fundamental research where it's necessary to create new concepts.

In Maestro, INFN is involved with Laboratori Nazionali del Sud (LNS), located in Catania, and with the Section of Torino.

INFN-LNS is active on projects concerning the dosimetric studies and protocols set-up for radiotherapy as well as clinical trials.

INFN Torino is contributing on the development of detectors for dosimetry and for beam monitor, both for radiotherapy with photons and with protons.
